Microsoft Antivirus Virus Submissions

Just wondered do Microsoft Antivirus have a virus sample submission e mail address?

You can send samples to Microsoft using the following email addresses:

avsubmit@submit.microsoft.com (For viruses, worms and trojans)
windefend@submit.microsoft.com (adware, spyware)

Send the files in a password protected ZIP file with the password "infected" (without the quotes). Use the subject line of the message to briefly describe the kind of submission ("new virus", "false positive" etc.) and explain in a more detailed manner in the body of the email.

Out of interest do we know anything about how good the scan engine is?

From what I remember it bought out RAV AV?

The recent PC-Welt test performed by AV-test.org does not say very good things about its detection rate.
