I did this for each user. Then when done with each user, I finally clicked the Apply button on the bottom right of the Permissions window. That should do it. No problems here and I never see a nag screen...

That worked perfectly well and was quite simple to do. I appreciate that you went into detail about what to click on and so on, otherwise it probably could have been confusing.
