    Hellos,
I just got an email from McAfee that they merged with FireEye and are now called Trellix.
    More info here and here.

    Today's trend it seems...

Seems like a dumb decision since McAfee and FireEye are household names. Nobody cares about some company named Trellix.

I find it interesting how people hang on to name recognition despite John McAfee and Peter Norton having nothing to do with their namesake products for quite some time.

It's because they are household names. I would have gone with the FireEye name since not many people are fan of McAfee, including myself. It's the first thing that I remove on any PC. But Trellix is a dumb name, looks like some new startup.

I agree, they would have a better chance of selling me something if they changed the name.

Trellix sounds like a construction company or some kind of off road vehicle.

This company pulled a Symantec move - its enterprise division merged with FireEye to form Trellix, and the consumer division continues under the McAfee name.

I agree but as usual they always have to fudge things for MONEY (feed the greed). The name is even stupid
