Not really necessary, but it is un-noticable as far as resources are concerned. It doesn't conflict with any software I know of, but I imagine it would conflict with anything that needs to write to the MBR (whatever that may be).
I´m a Deep Freeze user and I was disappointed when I knew that it fails to protect the computer from menaces like MebRoot. If MBRGuard is the appropiate complement for Deep Freeze to get a complete protection then it´s welcome.
I'm not familiar with how Deep Freeze works. Its worth a test if you have the means available. Maybe Eirik could provide more info.
Is anyone using MBRGuard with any pre-boot authentication encryption software such as TrueCrypt or Jetico BCVE? I'm wondering if there would be any conflicts between MBRGuard and the boot drive encryption.
I've heard of no conflicts involving MBRguard. If anyone has observed some, please let me know. Thanks, Eirik
Hi Erik/All, Have you ever tested MBRGuard with Rollback softwares like Comodo Time Machine or Rollback RX or FD-ISR or Shadow Defender? Anybody faced incompatibility problem with these softwares? As i guess all these softwares write themselves into MBR in order to provide you a complete clean rollback...But if you have MBRGuard installed on your system, then i guess it will prevent all these softwares to write themselves into MBR, resulting less protection feature... Anybody tested it? Any experience?
These three programs were not tested with MBRguard by our QA team. I'm unaware of any unexpected problems. As far as I know, most folk with software such as what you listed, knew to run them before MBRguard. I agree with your point, however, that MBRguard would interfere with anything legitimately writing to the MBR. Eirik
