This is the nature of human being. I did not invent this system.:D :D

But in this case there is no prejudice because we have facts and fact is Comodo is the best firewall on this planet actually.

LOL. So true. 80% of people out there are still using XP. I bought a new Dell WOW Gaming laptop and I had XP installed instead of Vista. Maybe Matousec will do a Vista alone test.

Oh, no. The fact is Comodo passes some set of some tests better than others. There is no way for such an abstraction you did :)

I guess if one was to gather the general conclusion of most reply's in this tread on how the test was done and how they ended this guy had no clue on what he was doingo_O it seems to me test after test comodo does come out on top rather it has HIPS or not it still beats alot of the so called classic FW and some of the newer FW in the same class. the last time I checked comodo could be installed as a pure FW! alot of people give comodo a bad wrap for doing it's job like it should{fact} and praise the others for not doing it's job {fact}o_O some times a person has to let an old dog die.

I do not mind Comodo is solid product. It is surely solid. I just wanna point out that those tests cover only the single aspect of s/w. They don't take in account for example usability, easiness to use, alerts informativeness, the number of the false positives et etc etc. So to say something is the best needs taking in account all these aspects at least. But yes, in case s/w fails most of the tests it is insecure, surely.

I agree 100% but that's not what the test was about it was about the functionality of the protection that was tested. but people do not see that they want to add this & this so~on and so~on. if a test was preformed on user ability most if not all FW would fell that part! imo there is not 1 FW targeted at being easy to use. they all have pop-ups some more than other they all get updates. that does not make it a flawed product it's imo some S/W is better than other at doing what it was designed to do.

I am quite certain that the newer version of ZoneAlarm also runs on XP, not only on Vista. Seems odd to to running new tests using old versions of some products and current versions of others is all.

Probably right, and while its not the best way to run from a security point of view (0% of the userpopulation still uses admin I even know several companies that have most of the users loging in because they do nt want the expense of changing configurations and troubleshooting the few programs that give you problems when you put them in limited user accounts

Version 7.1.248.000 will install and run only on Vista. The latest version for XP is 7.0.470.000.

Well it does show what I have mentioned before. A Packet filter can be used with an HIPS, and do just as well as the integrated packages.

The picture is absolutely correct. If you sit back and think for a while, you will reach the right conclusion: Matousec is all crap.

It's the emperor's new clothes, and guess who is pretending that he isn't naked?

    You.

I don't know why more are not concerned about inbound as they are about outbound.
I like to see test results as much as the next member but I don't put a lot of stock in most of them.

Remember, Matousec is in the business of finding obscure POC leaks,
and selling his results & services to developers, who can then use his ratings
as marketing tools. Which is fine, if you understand the game.

Why should that matter when the 2 top scorers are both free products.

Because creating free products is just another way to spend your
    advertising budget.

Its not just advertising though or else comodo wouldn't offer this threatcast service for free.

I doubt any accountants classify freeware development expense as
Charitable Donations, but that is OT from this thread.
