The past and the present, coming together. I've written a review of the MATE 1.20 desktop environment, covering installation setup, look and feel, customization, visual and functional niggles, general usage, application stack, stability, performance, comparison to Gnome 3 and Xfce, other observations, and more. Take a look.

    Thanks!
I've been using MATE for a few years, and switched to XFCE in the last one, and am not looking back, honestly.
I've seen a MATE Tweak program somewhere but don't remember exactly where.
You could select the desktop icons easily.
    So easy with XFCE though...

    Xfce makes Mate redundant, period.

    Indeed.
I don't see any advantage, at least a clear one, of MATE over XFCE.
