Anyone know if it is completely safe to update to Version 4 Premium through "Component Update", or is it safer to completely uninstall version 3 and then action a new install of version 4

Online check for updates worked without a hitch on two machines here (both Premium lifetime licenses). No need to un/install.

It adds a whopping 20sec to my start up. Besides being a bad Av compared to the best. No!

Does Malwarebytes have a generic link to download the full/offline installer for the latest MBAM version?

    (If so: what is it?)

Wow, I had no idea how far behind I was with Malwarebytes.
    4.0.4.49 running now. I was back on V3. :)

    Thank you @Krusty

Perhaps the above is more to everyone's liking. Note well: The above download might not have the latest Component/Controllers Package and will almost never have the very frequently revised Update Package file group.

I thought that was only when there's AV bashing or AV vs AV discussion. I don't think there was anything like that in simply indicating it was digitally signed.

    Hello All:

Component package version 1.0.764 (for 4.0.4.49) has been made available.

    Throttled/metered downloads have commenced.

MB4 users may always hasten the process with: Settings Icon > About tab > select: "Check for updates".

More information to follow when published.

    Thank you.

    Hello All:

MB4's Component package version 1.0.770 was released earlier today. A following Windows restart seems to be necessary for this update.

Official details have not been published yet.

    Hi!

I'm thinking of trying MBAM 4 Free. I use Windows Defender (Win10) as my AV. Will MBAM run fine with it? I don't want MBAM trying to replace it, since I'll only use the free version.

I was using MBAM years ago and at the time it offerend Free version without the Trial mode. Can I still get the Free version directly, without the Premium Trial?

How is MBAM 4 Free beahving reagarding system impact, bacground services, calling home, advertising Premium etc.?

    Thanx.

On install MB will be in Trial mode, which will disable Windows Defender. You can stop MB from registering with Windows Action Center but...
When you install MB it will be a trial of the Premium version. You can go to the Account tab and deactivate the trial at any time in the 14 days the trial runs.
In the free version MB should only impact the machine when it is scanning. Otherwise it will have no impact.

I downloaded and istalled the latest MBAM v4.0.4 in my VM environment and I was suprised as it offered a choice to run as Free or as 14-day Trial. I chose Free and it went straight into free mode.

I tweaked some settings. Why are the rootkit scans disabled by default?

There's one MBAM service which is set to Manual and is not running if I don't run MBAM. A bit of ads during scan but nothing too intrusive at all. I like MBAM.
