When they make it possible to turn off components without causing a persistent error condition (which they've promised they will do) users will be able to use any combination they wish.

Problem with that is it will probably display a "fault" alert in the system tray icon as do many security programs if a user turns a component off, the inevitable problem is the user knowing its a warning to turn that component on and thus ignores it and runs the risk that in fact another fault is in fact present as well...Peter and the wolf.

Yes, exactly right however MalwareBytes has said they will make it possible to turn off components without the UI displaying a fault alert. I hope they implement this soon so I can upgrade some of my family computers from v2 to v3 and turn off exploit protection.

Hey! Need someone's assistance. Installed v3.0.6 over v3.0.5. Web Protection does not seem to be working. I have tried warez, torrent, porn, movie/tv sites and no MB's Web Protection popup. Googled infected sites and went to them with same results. Anyone with v3.0.6 and have Web Protection enabled can verify that it is working on your machine. If it is, can you post the URL and I will go there and see if I have to clean install v3.0.6.

Web Protection was working on v3.0.5.

    Thanks,
    Robert

Did you confirm that Web Protection is turned ON in 3.0.6?

OK. I think you're right that a clean install is the next thing to try.

Will wait until hopefully, someone else replies whether it's working or not. Nothing on MB's forums concerning Web Protection when going to a malicious site.

    Thanks,
    Robert

Well, it did make sense when you think about it. But seems like they needed a lot more time to squeeze out all of the bugs. I do believe that MBAE is still available for download.

    I have installed this 3.0.6

Unfortunately it is worse for me. The application and windows 10 just freezes when I open th GUI or start up windows. The only way I can get back to a working system is to press the off switch and then restore from a Macrium Reflect image. Without this I would be looking at a fresh install of Windows 10.

The only difference between these release notes and the 3.0.6 Preview release notes is:
    Did they finally fix that?

Right, let's install and see how it goes. Also, perhaps the thread title can be renamed to remove the 'beta'?

    Or change beta to alpha.

I have got it working a little now. I don't have web protection started, nor anti exploit, nor self protection. Will need to enable these one by one and test.

I don't think they have addressed the shadow copy issue with the anti ransomware. This is supposed to be tested in the standalone anti ransomware program then issued as a component update in MB3

    Edit: corrected, thanks to KRusty.

It was the Ransomware Protection that causes the SVI issue, not Exploit Protection.

Have you tried uninstalling and then installing clean? Also I turn off "self protection" and "startup with Windows" if I'm uncertain about the stability of a build; makes it easier to back pedal if necessary.

Why not boot into SAFE mode if you have difficulties?

@Krusty: Your right. I mixed them up.

@Victek: thanks. I have disabled self protection and for now it seems to be working.

I did a clean install using the v2 cleanup tool, and installed under my admin account.

I am not sure why they couldn't put it right here in the 'beta' . It sure would have been simple for them to test. I am giving up. Not testing MB3 any more. If your curious why PM me.

Yesterday MBAM 2.2.1.1043 alerted me to a new update. Kind of curious if this is the MBAM 3 update, but I don't dare to run the update on my main workstation (where the money has to be made). Anyone of you having the same alert?

I think that would be the only update besides definition updates offered to MBAM 2. You can go into Settings > Update Settings and disable "Check for program updates when checking for database updates". That will stop those notifications.
