As a non-techie I am loath to go deleting and installing just for the sake of it - if an expert like YOU can't fix yours by this method then I am probably not going to succeed either. The issue must be with our connections to Malwarebytes somehow

Luckily I am in East Vic and we seem to have escaped the worst of the rain that they had in West Vic ......but touch wood for the rest of this downer of a week of forecast rain and low temps ....

I think you have me mistaken for somebody else.

Just as we can't seem to connect to ANY of the URLs that others have posted it's more likely some connection fault between Australia-MWbytes rather than a fault with the MBAM program o_Oo_O

I am in Australia and run Version 2016.09.12.01 with database 2016.09.12.01 and seem to update without issues, also tried the manual download of the setup file just for testing and had no issues.

Thanks Beethoven - not sure where you are - but I still can't update MBAM and all the URLS ( http://data-cdn.mbamupdates.com/v1/database/rules/version.chk etc etc ) on website checking still say its not just you that's down . I'll have to leave it to the experts on here to sort out .....

Just tried this myself, I'm in Sydney Australia but Foxtel is my ISP, which i believe Telstra owns 50% of.

Will try on my Son's laptop when he returns from school.

    On my Son's system.

His Database is v2016.09.07.08. Will not update automatically or via manual update, Database stays the same.

On mine it was v2016.09.04.08. i did a manual update on mine and it did update to v2016.09.12.01 after about 15 minutes.

    Hey bidd,

I was just logging in to say MBAM just updated on the machine I've just clean installed Win10 on. I haven't checked my other machines yet.

    Yay!

Yep. My two MBAM Premium machines have finally updated but the machine with the free version hasn't yet. It still takes an eternity to search for updates though.

Thank you all for your input and support. What a great forum!

MBAM has even auto-updated since the first above now so it looks like things are back to normal.

    Cheers,
    Dave

There is definitely an issue with Telstra and updates.
I noticed it today on my parents PC.
They have Telstra as an ISP.
My updates have had no issue...I'm on TPG.

"Ransomware disguises itself as Malwarebytes Anti-malware (though quite poorly)...

It seems that this ransomware variant is in a trial run, as all versions detected still do not have any ability to encrypt a victim's files. Despite this, Christopher Boyd of the real Malwarebytes Labs thinks that the ransomware developer might be preparing for something big....."

NB: The Logo Page for the download uses the name Malwarebyte. Guess they might have been concerned about trademark infrigement :)

I know MBAM isn't an A-V that tries to detect everything, but how do they choose which threats to detect?

MalwareBytes AntiMalware continues to receive regular database updates and works fine. What kind of update do you feel it needs?

    Product update
You don't need developers to update the database what are they doing?
