I love Malwarebytes, but I just wish they would improve on memory consumption even more.

If they did, I'd be running it in Real-time right now.

I still have to give them credit though, they knocked off about 40MB of memory in the 1.7 release.

Just knock off a little more please :D

I noticed this yesterday when I updated.

This latest ver. created an entry in RunOnce registry key for mbamgui.exe. Thought that was a bit odd. Entry was removed after a reboot.

    Thanks for the input, Blues.
I have a feeling that it is a widespread thing. :)

I also noticed the runonce because winpatrol gave me an alert on my windows 7 32bit computer. Did Not get an alert on windows 7 64bit or windows 8 64bit. I do not post here much but do read this forum everyday for all the good information. Not sure how to add a screen shot so will try to attach a photo. sly

When running MBAM Pro resident, does it still load its entire definition database into memory?

Is anyone else getting this 'detection' from MBAR after updating MBAM to version 1.75 ?

The same thing happened when I was trying 1.75 Beta and never occurred with MBAM version 1.70.

    I'm not.
I updated MBAM to 1.75.0.1300 on two machines and ran the current version of MBAR today and no such findings.
Probably doesn't help you, but wanted to report my results FYI.

Upload mbam.sys to Virustotal.com and do an online scan. I just did and had 0 detections. At least that way you will know the MBAR alert is a FP on your system.

Standard routine in my case also after doing a program update. It will always give notice of an outdated database of at least a couple of days(3-5).

I'm running it real-time next to avast! and while yes it is quite a bit heavier (Ram wise) then avast! my system with only 2gb (1.85 usable) is running super fast.

Did so and VT reports clean.

I've opened a support ticket with Malwarebytes.

It's your OS version not causing issues.
On (old) XP systems, the recent MBAM update for the 'Website Blocking' module is causing lock-ups, system hangs and misery.
Mbamservice.exe will eat 90-100% cpu at bootup, causing systems to be unusable for 5-15 minutes.
When updating, the same issue; >90% CPU usage and mbam.exe and mbamservice.exe eat up well over 350MB, locking up the OS for minutes.
It might seem as if the system hangs indefinitely but it will return to normal, you just have to wait it out.
Trying to disable mbamservice.exe through Task Manager, can cause a complete system freeze requiring a hard reboot.

    The issue is (somewhat) confirmed at MBAM forum;
"What I think may be happening is that our database size has increased quite a bit and it is probably pushing some of these computers capabilities and thus making it obvious that there is an issue. Most of the newer Windows 7 or those running XP on high end computers may not be seeing this issue." link

The current solution for XP users is to disable all website blocking, uncheck 'Enable malicious website blocking' and also uncheck 'Start malicious website blocking when protection module starts'.
Trying to bootup with website blocking disabled and enabling it only after booting up, doesn't work for me.
Enabling the module only after bootup, grinds the system to a halt again, forcing another coffee break.

aye, thanks for clarifying. It's a good thing then that clients Pc's of mine only have MBAM OD or that could cause a headache :D

Those that are still running XP that is. 90% of my clients are Win7

Siljaline, are you running mbam pro with NOD in real time without issues. I used to have problems on xp with respect to usb drives but once I switched to 7 everything was fine. So I am hesitant to upgrade.

I run MBAM free version. It would be up to you to decide if you are willing to take risks of issues by upgrading.

I'm picky though, I prefer light on all machines (New or Old), I'm talking avast! or VoodooShield light, anything more than that is heavy to me.
