Malware samples

Just for kicks I would like to test a few AV products (I get bored and am looking for things to do) Where can I get large samples to run these tests (if even possible)?

c) Search the net actively to find suspicious samples
d) Get yourself some "contacts"

Thats really all you can do

Frankly speaking, it is very difficult to obtain samples unless you are involved in a virus exchange group or are working for a security vendor.

It's very easy to obtain a mass of samples

 

Spamfilters and firewall down a few hours you mean? That should give you some work to do.
Several developers have innocent testsamples on their sites.

there are.. hundreds of websites with malware collections, websites with the new zero day malware, websites with loads of polymorphic viruses, etc etc, the list goes on, i wont be naming them, but if you look through google, im sure you will get there.

plus, be carefull.

no AV is perfect and some of these are damn dangerous if you are not carefull.

 

great excuse for looking at (or downloading) porn sites and warez *hint*hint*
Also using HIPS shows you the basics about what the malware will do to your PC
*note: HIPS dont block ALL malware
