No, he sits in an executive arm chair in the 360safe headquarters and smokes big cigars. :D

My post was about EQSecure and its slow (or no) development.
For me it looks just like they have sold it to 3DProtect after the curtain has fallen.

    Cheers

Is it worth trialling MD rright now? When will the new free version be released? What happens if the free version isnt released by the time the 30 day trial is over? I assume that MD will stop functioning when the trial ends.

BTW, Malware Defender 2.6.0 seems to have conflicts with Windows 7 X86 systems?

When i enable the normal mode it freezes windows completely!!! and MD crashes.
But in learning mode everything is fine.

This only happens when you use a cracked version.

Imo MD should have an option to automatically trust all windows processes. That should greatly reduce popups.

There are a couple of ways you can quieten down MD without having a massive impact on the level of security offered:

    1. Enable "Allow signed applications to be run by system applications"
    2. Set the default application rules for "send message to other process" and "Duplicate handle from/to other processes" to Permit.

MD of course. It is common problem, as the patch was created for previous versions. If you search this forum it has been asked before.

just out of interest I briefly once tried a cracked version of MD. I found that it didn't work properly MD didn't intercept unknown executables from running. and I personally don't trust cracked versions.

If you have a licence for MD don't loose it, it is worth Gold.

@mike - i assume the license code contains some program code after compiled
and accepted. i read some messages that only the gui is crashing cause
when restarted the dialog pop ups what to do - so the service is not involved.
i guess we dont need to get deeper into nevertheless author did a great piece of software :thumb:

i hope the situation about future of MD is getting clear fast.
i'd like to have updates or the option to change software earlier.

Where can I find these settings and does this make MD a lot more unsecure? I bet this doesn't matter too much when running a sandbox, does it? Thanks

subset wrote here about a zone modell you can add programs to.
define zones or groups and put the asked program into one of them.

They are under the default application rule - the one labeled *.
From my reading (long ago) I understand that this makes minimal difference to the security level, particularly when running a sandbox

Sorry for bothering you, but could you please make a screenshot of the "needed" settings. I'm desperately trying to find it, but I simply can't. :D

raven211, I wouldn't change these settings if I was you. They are definitely not "needed" and are just going to lower your security. :thumbd:

Each to their own. Yes they lower security a small amount, but the trade-off is a large reduction in the number of pop-ups. For me they definitely are needed. As part of a layered approach using Sandboxie, where MD is the final line of defence, it is a good approach imo.

Raven211, I'm struggling to upload a screenshot. Just look in the main MD window under the "Application Rules - Normal" tree. Double click on "*", then select the permissions tab. There they are.

Xiaolin mentioned this on Apr 1st, did anyone get an email? My email address MD is registered to is still active, so just wondering if it went to spam and i missed it or it's not been sent yet?

I'm fearing 2.6 is the final build, in the true sense of the word. :'(

yea no I haven't got any email. Looks like 2.6 is the final build. Just as long as MD runs stable on win7 which is my main concern. can some one with win7 please confirm it runs stable? I'm still on XP
