    HERE.

Based on hashes, the downloadable version of MD has been unchanged since Sep 1, 2010. (MD-5 -- 5E3E9959F12326A9AAD7A230059ED047)

Perhaps. Perhaps not. If anyone finds a major glitch or gap in MD, and reports it to Xiaolin, I tend to believe that he will fix it.

If you asked me I would say that its biggest gap right now derives from the fact that MD is not 64-bit compatible...
Did someone ask the developer if he has a grip on that?

I actually have talked to the dev recently and I see no where it seems that it is being discontinued.

AFAIK, modifying MD for 64-bit is not high on Xiaolin's to-do list because:

1- Inability to hook ring 0 --- the Patch Guard in 64-bit means that enabling any given broad-spectrum HIPS to run in that environment will mandate significant compromises with that given HIPS' protective effectiveness. Some programmers have reluctantly made those compromises (e.g., Tsuk). Others have thus far refused to make those compromises (e.g., Ilya, Xiaolin).

2- MD is now owned by 360.cn, & xiaolin is employed by them. AFAIK, 360.cn's primary market is China. The switch to 64-bit is evidently rather slow in that area.

Yeah, i was going to say the Patch Guard thing :p

Also i think MD is now no longer the main focus of Xiaolin. :D

Yes, it all makes sens, I'm afraid. But it is sad for us knowing that xiaolin have now to focus on other projects there and that MD probably won't be developed anymore. At least its other gem Registry Workshop continues to work great on 64-bit systems... :)
360.cn guys have enroled a neat coder in their team, that's for sure, but their gain is also our lost. Just hope that he truely enjoys his working with them.

While I would like a new version of Malware Defender I also understand that chances are there won't be one anytime soon. MD is a stable and complete product already. What more do you want? Sure, he can add more features or something but MD does its job perfectly fine in its current version as well. There is no real/urgent need for a new version.
And this is coming from someone who is using MD and likes it very much.

Same here, even LangDll=mdresdeu.dll in MalwareDefender.ini doesn't work.
Seems like v2.7.3.1 doesn't like Language Dlls anymore.

    Cheers

MD still running as smooth as ever on my pc. And of course MD is not dead, there doesn't always need to be any regular updates if the program is running smoothly.

And Hi xiaolin thanks for the update.

I agree. I'm actually still running the 2.6 paid version on Win 7 but using the 2.7 version in XP boot.

(Note to Wilders quote-button-one-line-reply Massive Posters: Yes, I did ignore the zero padding in the MD version numbers for this posting.)

    FYI for Hi Xiaolin:

I've been using Malware Defender and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware full version since 2.7.1 and 1.46 on a system running Win Xp Pro Sp3.

Installed MD 2.7.3.1 over 2.7.2.1. Got total system lockup within seconds of checking "Enable protection module" in MBAM Pro 1.50.1.1100. Tried it in reverse - MBAM first then MD. Had MD re-learn MBAM as Trusted, added MD to MBAM Ignore List. Disabled all other protection. Repeated all that after a Revo 1.9 un-install of MD, an Auslogics registry clean and re-install of MD 2.7.3.1. There is no fix to the lockup that I can find.

Then noticed when Zemana AntiLogger 1.9.2.243 is running, MalwareDefender.exe will hit the CPU for 40-50% for 2-3 seconds every 5-6 seconds. Won't stop until exiting ZAL.

Reverted to 2.7.2.1. Which has always been A-OK. :thumb:

    Thank you!
