Yes, it's for the beta. I think it was already mentioned in this topic that they use the same link for every new release, and not separate downloads for the stable and beta versions, so there is no official link for 2.7.1. Stupid practice in my opinion but it's not like I can do something about it. I do however have all the freeware versions so I could upload if necessary. I tend to keep older versions for a lot of programs.

bellgamin are you able to take care of folks who need a copy of MD? if not, I can try to help. It's a small size relatively speaking- so I guess I could email it if someone wants.

The usual download site, as given earlier, is HERE

If someone repeatedly bombs out with that link, send me a PM & I will help.

    Similar... :)

Browsing with Opera, and just placing the mouse 'pointer' on the link posted above by bellgamin, and Prevx SafeOnline blocks it, unless I choose to ignore. LOL

Make sure the download has md5 hash of 7631D13A7D734560183D1F1900B4BE2A

... otherwise you have a corrupted download.

The help I offered is to provide an alternate download link if the link to . . .
    http://dl.360safe.com/md_setup_en.exe

    is dead.

I am not a tech support expert on MD - not by any means.

I don't know about that. What I do know is that, if your download of the MD beta has the correct hash, you definitely have a good copy of MD.

    Here you go . . .

installed it yesterday, modifiying language dll for german.
    MD crashed this way:
    - chose any application
    - edit the rules
    - go to Tab "Application"
    - double-click "Access COM Interfaces"
    bang

the new gui style need its time - im not really a friend of this
    - and that office baby blue color. actual there is no option to change color.

some setting tabs are gone - too sad - i feel a loss of control although they
have been combined in the tab "Application".
beta 2.71 runs more stable and i will return to it.

A double-click on any permission category crashes MD.
This is a known bug, there is a thread at the Chinese kafan forums about it.

    Cheers

Now that MD is under the 360 company umbrella,
    .... Does anyone know whether:

    1. Does 360 have any plans on creating an English Forum on their site ? .....Using google translate option, just looses something in the translation to english. Very often it is hard to follow the fluency of the english translation.

    2. Does 360 company have a tech support email address where you can ask questions in english ?

    3. Is it still possibile to email Xiaolin, directly at his torchsoft site and get a reply back regarding MD tech questions or is the 360 chinese forum the only way to ask a tech question ?

    Is his email publically available?

Since he is the only person developing Malware Defender, with no liability, and since its closed source is he trustworthy (in not to include some hidden malware on it :p )?

When I attempted to download the beta using CIS V5 Beta Malware Defender was listed as a suspicious item and deleted the file and download link.

Please see my post #538 in this thread. IMO CIS is the "suspicious" item inasmuch as it deletes valid files & download links without notifying you first. ;)

I've been a user (some would say fanboy :p ) since April and have never detected any unusual behavior from MD such as unexplained network connections or activity, etc. Xiaolin has always responded quickly and professionally to my support mails. I would say that he is very trustworthy. :thumb:
