Major U.S. websites inaccessible in "cyber attack" on domain name system

    Well my comment obviously did not refer to the users of this board or IT professionals in general. I was of course referring to the other 99% of users, who whilst they may have an AV on their PCs would not give a second thought to security dangers from their modems/routers and who will certainly not be reading this article.

    Yes! that's sort of my point also, that many people think their anti-virus takes care of simply everything. Plus, manufacturers of the devices likely knew of the vulnerabilities before the exploitation occurred. I bet my lunch money on it.

    One reason why this could happen was that many big sites rely on DynDNS only. This animation shows the prominent role of DynDNS during the DDoS attack. Now guess who did a better job by not relying on just one provider? pornhub.com, for example.

    Maybe something good will come from this. Those big webpages might realize, that they need some backup.

    100% good thinking and assessment.

    I have none of those type devices and wasn't confident in them in the first place.
