    Hi,

I would like to be able to clear the recent file lists in Dreamweaver, Fireworks, Freehand, Flash. I assumed that they were kept in an MRU.
I looked thru the registry and found none. I tried MRU Blaster to see if perhaps I missed something. It cleared everything but those.
So, evidentally this info must be somewhere else. Unfortunately Macromedia doesn't have a simple way to do this from within the programs. I was just wondering if anyone knew an easy way to do this. I believe I found some pref files that contain this info....

    Thanks.

What versions of those applications are you looking to clear the MRUs for?

The new update of MRU-Blaster will be able to clean the MRU lists for:
    -Flash 5
    -Flash MX
    -Fireworks MX
    -Dreamweaver 4
    -Dreamweaver MX

    Best regards,

    I am using MX.
    What about Freehand?

Oh, and that would mean that this info is being stored in an MRU. Why didn't it show up when I searched for it?

And, by the way, great site. And, WOW, a real quick response. I just posted a few minutes ago.

If I can grab a demo of it, I'll try to put it in too. :)

In the registry, look for the key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\(application name) 6\Recent File List
They should be stored there. :D (Ex. "(application name)" could be "Flash")

    Best regards,

First of all, I think you can get a trial version at www.macromedia.com
And I did my search pretty much as you suggested. Is it possible that the info isn't in an MRU?

    Thanks for checking into this...
    :)

I should have said "If I have time to grab a demo." ;)
All MX versions of Macromedia products should store the data in the registry...I'll look into it some more, but that is their standard location. (NOTE: You have to shut down the MX products for them to save the data in the registry - then try browsing to that key to see if any data is in it, in the form of strings.)

    No problem.

I did. I could not find a recent file list entry there, for any of those programs.

I will look forward to what you can find out.
    Thanks in advance.

What pref files did you find that may contain this info? I'd be interested to see if I can duplicate it.

    TIA.

Make hidden files visible. Then go to C:\Documents and Settings\'user'\Application Data\Macromedia

where 'user' is the current user. I am using XP.

There you'll find folders for each Macromedia program on the machine.
Within those folders are text files / config files that contain this info

Kindly let me know if you find an easier way...thanks
