Has anyone tried this for disk imaging?
Seems rather like TI (the free version does not have
incremental imaging or file/folder backup options)
but allows for a linux rescue cd and a bart plugin.

    Any opinions?

Tried the paid version-it presented so many problems as regards selecting a destination site-couldnt really test it.
Suggest other apps would be better.

Tried the free version. Nice GUI, OK speed. Restore not tried. Image mounted OK.

After install n reboot system can,t boot up, loop of BSODs.

Linux Boot CD was not able to boot. Strangely BartPE CD has no backup option, only restore is there.

IRC you cannot restore to different sized partitions, which IMHO is essential.

I tried free version, too. I installed it but I couldn't create the disk image: the program gave me every time a generic error message. But may be 'cause I tried it running Returnil in locked session. ;)

U can,t restore to a smaller partition. Same with SP and Drive Image XML.

So what's the easiest way to set this up? I have Vista 32 bit version on my laptop. Do I have to create a partition to save the back up or does it create one for me?

I have one C: drive and no partitions at the moment. EAZ-FIX the previous Give Away of the Day software created a folder w/out any problems.

I installed this, but my problem is what my usual problem is. What i want from these programs is to restore my active "C" partition. Of course, it can't do it through windows. The Linux CD loads but i can't do anything with it, because my MS USB mouse won't work (even if i have legacy USB devices enabled in BIOS).

    So i uninstalled...

I just did a restore image with Marcium reflect to DVD and it imaged to four DVD's in 23 minutes. as far as restoring all that is required is to double click the XML file to initate the restore if backed up to your hard drive(not recomended).I started a restore from the Linux rescue disc it creates to see if it would work, and it does work so I canceled the restore as soon as I saw it was going to work. :D :D :thumb:

I cannot recommend this software. Yes, it's a good solution for anyone looking to back up and restore to the same hardware, but make any changes and you SOL.

I think most users use imaging with same hardware. I don,t think that hardware independent recovery is so smooth with any software.

I found that the Linux CD would work eventually with my mouse, if burnt enabling "compatibility mode". I restored an image, all went smoothly and very quickly.

The main annoyance is that it needs online registration, which i find irritating for a freeware version.

Replaced a WD Caviar (with system and progs. on it) with a Samsung SpinPoint. Both 80 Gb.
    Booted from the LinuxIso.
Restored an image just made before.
    And.....no probs at all :D
(used the Macrium version from GAOTD)

I just tried it, mainly to see if the Recovery CD loads OK. The Linux one didn't, but I was most impressed by the way they make it easy for you to burn Bart PE.. Bart PE RCD loads fine, I didn't recover anything yet as a thunderstorm stopped play.

Looks promising, but I would probably go for the Full version.
