Hi Chamlin. I run AX64 and Macrium standard. Answers to your questions as they pertain to me.
    1. I do C: drive
    2. When I do a AX64 backup, I'll do a macrium also if there are significant changes to the C: drive.
    3. I don't
    4. I don't
    5. I don't know
    6. I made recovery CD's for both AX64 and Macrium.

    Hope that helps. :)

Did you create bootcd with WinPE environment? I guess that's when those files are created in boot folder.

That's strange. Two subfolders in c:\boot\macrium are aprox. the same size as are WinPE 4 and 5 ISO image sizes. And time of creation is also the same (see attachment).

Well my 100mb partition has been deactivated, and all the boot stuff is on the c drive, but no I don't have those folders.

Those subfolders show up when you install the boot menu. Should go away if you uninstall it.

I don't remember to installing it. Don't know how to remove it. It's not under Add/Remove programs neither under Macrium custom install. I also checked options in program but could not find it. I also don't get any boot menu options when starting system, neither is there any additional entry in system startup settings (only Windows 8.1). When I checked on Macrium site it says that this option is only available to registered users: http://www.macrium.com/webhelp/windows_boot_menu.asp. I use free version of this application. Maybe those files were copied there just in case... o_O

can I make incremental backups when cloning my HDD?

    OK,
I cloned my HDD to my second backup HHD.
My recovery media is on a thumb drive.
My backup went well and I can review the files on my recovery thumb drive.
Here is my question, Can I setup Macrium Reflect to automatically make incremental backups when cloning?

One more thought about my "problem":
Since files were created during BootCD media creation it might have something to do with it. When I checked the process of creation I found out that there is an option "Enable multiboot MBR/UEFI USB support", which can't be un-checked. Might this be the source of the "problem"?

Does your MSconfig boot setup show it. If it does you can delete it there and then probably just delete that folder.

    Add remove wouldn't be involved.

No, MSConfig shows only Windows 8.1 boot option. I will leave those files for now.

EDIT: also system image size has grown from 11 GB to 14 GB. All those things happened after upgrading to latest version 6474.

EDIT2: increase in image size is not related to this problem.

An update: I think I found what those are - those are stored Macrium PE files. You can select the drive where you want them stored in advanced options (see picture). When I changed the drive to D: all those files were moved to d:\boot\macrium. So I guess mistery is solved :)

I took the boot menu out, and the macrium folder remained. I just deleted it and it was fine.

I have never tried it but can Macrium Reflect restore an image from a smaller 128GB SSD to a larger 256GB SSD? And how about vise versa? Thanks!

Thank you Peter2150 for testing. I might delete them also or move them to D:.

    There's a new version: 5.2.6504 (20140320).
Changelog says backup speed increased up to 30%
Can't wait to test it when I get home...

I want a simple backup (image?) of a single HDD to Blu-ray DVD and nearly decided on Acronis TI or SyncBackSE but this Macrium Reflect Standard looks interesting. Not interested in bells and whistles just a bulletproof backup. Best choice?

Thank you for info. I can confirm speed improvement. For me transfer rate has climbed from 75 MB/s to 100 MB/s. Time to create system image has been reduced from 4:15 to 3:45. Great work Macrium :thumb:

I've just figured out how to make short cuts out of the definitions files. What a cool feature.
