I have noticed that with Win 10 home, the GUI has changed so there is no longer the option to run an image as a virtual PC. I cannot see in the changelog when this happened.

Users have been complaining since the release of v7 that W10 HOME cannot run Hyper-V virtual images so why put the mechanisms to do so on a user's desktop... Imagined they finally removed them in a recent release.

Has anyone else every come up with the Macrium error that prevents users from adding the macrium boot entry. I get an error that macrium cannot open the BCD. I get that issue in 6 and 7. Is there any fix for it.

/me turn on the frog symbol.

I have noticed I cannot get the boot menu to appear, but I have not had a error appear. This is using MR 6 Free & Win 10 CU.

Ik this is a necro, but I'm having the same problem. I made a backup of my entire HDD and now I'm stuck with a backup which I cannot restore because "there are too many primary partitions"... And I'm on version 6.3.
    Any suggestions? :(

@kamild1996 - I just don't understand your issue here, probably due to not enough information known about your System.

You have a FULL HDD image... what is the partition layout of that image? And where is that msg ("there are too many primary partitions") coming from?

More information would help in trying to assist you here...

@n8chavez - there was one other user (I can't remember who, I think it was @Jo Ann ) in this thread that had a very similar problem. After looking at every possible scenario (permissions, etc.) and trying to get help from Macrium Support, I don't believe the problem was ever solved.

I offered her an option to set that up via EasyBCD but I believe she wanted a vendor supported solution so she started looking elsewhere for her imaging needs.

Since every W10 HOME user on the Macrium Forums complained about it being there when it wouldn't even work with W10 HOME, Macrium removed it. It was probably done within the past few updates.

But it IS still working in Pro.

I just posted on the Macrium forum about Verify when I run a full Image taking a long time to start and then finish. I think they are aware of this but wonder if anyone else has seen this since Build 2161?

OH, before anyone asks, I do a Verifey after a full Image EVERY time as it does not take too long and other Image Software has almost messed me up as the verify failed on several occasions after the Image wrote "OK"! Reflect has never done this, but I do the verify anyway!

I don't believe it's been removed from PRO... but I may be wrong, I only stayed at v7 for 2-days before I returned to v6

That is correct. I have tried it in Pro and V7 viboot does work

From everything I can tell, it seems the problem is with Windows 10 CU. I didn't have any issues at all before I updated to CU.

This may not be possible but....
I have a Windows 10 MBR installation which I would like to convert to GPT however the MBR2GPT utility refuses to create the EFI Partition. So what I tried to do is backup the image of my WIndows 10 Partition only. Then I changed the disk type to GPT, and did a clean install of Windows 10 in UEFI mode. Then I tried to restore the Windows 10 backup I made to the new Windows partition on the UEFI disk. The new Windows partition was part#4. Even though I pointed the restore to Part#4, when it was done, it had restored the backup as partition 1 overwriting the three partitions created by the UEFI install. Am I doing something wrong or am I smoking something thinking I could do this?

You probably should not have restored the MBR from your saved partition.

I was just coming back to post that I found a video on how to do it. Instead of completing the restore, I just need to delete the new partition and then drag and drop the windows partition from the image backup onto the unallocated space.
When I booted, Windows went thru an automatic repair and then booted fine. Not sure I am allowed to post the link to the video. But if anyone googles Windows 10: Converting MBR to GPT for EFI boot
and looks for Converting MBR to GPT for EFI boot? Solved - Windows 10 Forums, Post number 5 has the video.

The "Macrium procedure", without a clean install, is described here: http://knowledgebase.macrium.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=1998887.

If it is a YouTube video, you can post it but you need to make it an unclickable link. Like HXXP instead of HTTP.
