Well, I did the update and saw this...
Automatic detection of disk write performance
I do not see that it mattered.

The last 2 updates haven't broken anything that mattered to me. I'll consider that moving in the right direction. I might finally upgrade the rest of my machines.

This is all I do on my systems any more. If it isn't Reflect having an update it is Norton or Office or Windows! :)

    So true :)
It seems like half a time I spent on my system it's related to some kind of updates or maintenance.

In fact, my rescue media is a DVDRW. I create a NEW version with every "update". I need a new postit note as I have run out of room! I am now on my 9th update since I got V7! At least it is just a patch this time.

Uf that's a lot of DVDs. Any specific reason why you don't create rescue media on USB flash drive?

In fact it is only ONE DVD as it is a DVDRW...which is re writable. You must have missed the DVDRW part.

I have a File and Folder .xml that I set up for my D: drive and have excluded a few Folders. This is on my desktop and all seems OK. However, when I click the Desktop and it starts to run all I have is an icon and I have to click it and select SHOW. Is there a way to have this .xml run and show what it is doing? My full Images don't hide.

MPSAN, my Desktop icon runs the "Prompt" option for imaging (not "Files & Folders")... it always pops up so that I may select type of image and add a comment if I wish... then it runs in a visible window. I would think that would be availabel for F&F as well... but I don't really know sonce I don't use it for that.

Yes, that is what I see when I do images, but not when I run the F&F from my .xml. I wanted this as I want to use F&F on my wifes system and if she clicks it I want to have it show her it is working. I guess I can post on the Macrium forum.

I have a F&F backup which runs from a desktop shortcut. It prompts me for the type of backup and allows me to enter a comment. After making those choices, it shows the backup running in the foreground, just like an image backup does.

The target of the shortcut is:
    Code:
    "C:\Program Files\Macrium\Reflect\Reflect.exe" -e -w -prompt "C:\Users\tv-user\Documents\Reflect\ProgramData_Backup.xml"

MPSAN, might this be a v7 vs v6 issue? What version is running on your wife's System?

(why I even tolerate the Windows 10 OS, I'll never know...)

WARNING! For those running Legacy-MBR Windows 10 Systems that use only the ACTIVE C:\ partition or an ACTIVE Microsoft SRP (System Reserved Partition) and a Windows C:\ partition... the upcoming (to start in 4-days) CREATOR'S UPDATE will shrink your Windows C:\ partition by over 800+ mB (unless there's that much unallocated space following your Windows partition) and will create a new Windows RECOVERY partition (similar to the action under the Anniversary update). If you already had an old Windows RECOVERY partition (too small to use), it will most likely leave that dead thing laying around as well.

Similar anomalies will most likely occur in UEFI Systems as well... please be prepared.

This size change in the Windows C:\ partition will cause the next REFLECT image of that partition to start a new image chain with a FULL image when using your current definitions.

I will look...perhaps the -prompt is what is needed. Mine says -e -w -full. I do not know what -full is.

If I remember correctly, edit defaults - advanced - advanced backup options - there was an option on the top something like direct disk & something mentioned regards antivirus
Now I have latest updates And dont see the mentioned option

Is the option removed or corrupted updates here?

    TRF,

I've been upgrading the family computers..

3 were UEFI. The partitions were unchanged after the 1703 upgrade.

3 were MBR with 450 MB Recovery partitions. The partitions were unchanged after the 1703 upgrade.

1 was MBR without a Recovery partition. A 450 MB Recovery partition was present after the 1703 upgrade.
