TRF, By default - Verify file system before backup is enabled, right? Enable changed block tracking for incremental backups is enabled, right? (updates are disabling it, right?)
Is anyone seeing a warning for Event ID 263 under System in the Windows Event Viewer? This is on Win 7 NFR version. (I haven't looked at Event Viewer on Win 10 Reflect Home version yet) The source is listed as mrcbt (Macrium Reflect CBT)
A fresh v7 install will install the CBT driver but not have the CBT option set for use, the user must set it. So far, all the updates since the intro of v7 have been turning OFF the CBT option (at least that's what I've found) for no particular reason if it was previously set. "Verify File System" is set, by default, upon installation.
@stapp - It's just a v7 diagnostic entry (not a problem) saying that MRCBT has created a new Tracking File to use in its operation. It, most likely, will be happening on System reBOOTs. These types of diag entries will be withdrawn from future updates as it settles down in its operation...
I think the initial v7 release installed it but let users determine whether they wanted to use it or not. Since all the so called "patches" that have been issued since then have not been patches but full releases, it looks as though that option is still as it is in a new release, not a patch. It's really not nice to force new features on to users without their full understanding of what they really are... I think the decision being left up to the user is a good idea.
What's not good is the constant turning off of that feature due to the full installs being handed out at the moment. Once they get out of the fire and back into PATCH mode, I think settings like that will be left alone as they were before. New installs will probably continue to leave it up to the user as to whether to use it or not.
OK, I do not see where to use cbt. I do not see the option or is that because I do not do anything (YET) but full Images? OK, going to get 2035 now...cover me I'm going in!
@MPSAN - CBT is available for configuration in the following menu item... Other tasks/Edit defaults/Advanced/Advanced Incrementals If it's not available, your CBT driver has never been installed. When using it, you will get the most out of it if you use both options checked in the above menu item. It has no value to anyone doing only FULL images. It has little value to anyone doing DIFFERENTIALs unless a FULL is done following a System reSTART and many DIFFs are done before the next System reSTART. It has little or no value to anyone doing only a single daily INC unless the System is left on over a series of days. It has great value to anyone doing lots of INCs between System reSTARTs.
OK, I see it Froggie. Peter, I started only doing Full Backup Images with Verify when I started using the Free version. When I bought V6 (and V7) I never changed that as it was so fast. However, my wife may have a use on her system for doing folder and file backups in addition to my full images. She has so much with her customized toolbars, etc that if she is going to do more, I do a full image so we can get her system back! I will have to look into this. She also has her system sleep between full shutdowns so I need to look into this.
Well! I just did an update to V7 2035 and did not yet reboot. I looked and my mrcbt driver is gone again! So I am sure it will not reboot without me adding the driver back from an image but before I do it I will send the info Macrium wanted.
I have scheduled incremental "every 2 hours" And everytime we finish our stuffs, we shutdown the PC...So CBT enabled is good for us, right?
CBT is fine... it just won't be active on the first image of the day, but the old "Looking for changes" mode was still the quickest in the industry as far as restorations were concerned. You should be fine...
Hello, A new update has been released, version 7.0.2055... Homepage: https://www.macrium.com/ Download Page: https://www.macrium.com/download/home Release Notes: http://updates.macrium.com/reflect/v7/v7.0.2055/details7.0.2055.htm
Once again, when a company grow big, they got arrogant and treat their customers as guinea pigs. V7 has not yet reached stable stage yet it was labeled as such and released to the public, for what?
I see this error in event viewer "Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer"
I updated today to version 2055. When scheduled scan was run there was no postopne backup message and no systray notification about running backup. Both of them were present in previous versions.
