OK Brian, I found the bcdedit text file in (C) which has listed several entries (4, see attachment) related to \Recovery\WindowsRE\WinRe.wim
How can this info help me identify the right partition?

    Osaban,

You have a Winre.wim in Partitions 1 and 5. I don't know which is the main one in use so leave both alone. You could delete Partitions 6 and 7 if you like. That will make your backups much smaller.

Thanks, partition 6 is definitely Win 8 recovery which is useless...

Since a couple of days I don't have access to Macrium Reflect System Recovery. At the start of Windows, if I click on it, the screen becomes black, I can see
the mouse but nothing is happening even if I leave it for two minutes. I have to make a hard reset to get out. This is with my Laptop, works perfect with my Desktop tough.

I have Win PE 5.0, running Windows 10 and the macrium version is 6.1.1366

    Thanks for help

Antarctica, use the "No menu" option during the creation of the BOOT menu to remove the existing entry, then run it again and add your PE of choice... hopefully that'll fix it.

Since applying the anniversary update (today) to Windows 10 (Version 1607) I am having problems with Reflect.

In the GUI when I click "Run now" on one of my schedules, the GUI doesn't show "running" anymore. Sometimes it doesn't run at all. And when this happens I am not able to shutdown or restart the computer.

Has anyone else with W10 got this?

i am having the same issue. i deleted my existing .xml backup profiles and created brand new ones. I am currently running new full backups after that finishes im going to try and run an incremental again to see if the same issue occurs. Maybe there is a problem with the old xml files.

There are also major issues with the W10 v1067's Task Scheduler which affect Reflect and any scheduled items. If you can, hold back the Anniversary update until Macrium gets this worked out with Microsoft (contact is ongoing as I type).

Ok thanks both for confirming it isn't just me.

I created an image of my drive before the update so I can always roll back but it would only be temporary. For now I will disable all my schedule and just do manual backups. I hope they will work at least.

Hope there will be a fix soon.

I'm sure there will be... this has become a major headache for Macrium since yesterday when the W10 update was released.

    I don't have that ...
... but my scheduled backups didn't run last night after the AU 'upgrade' ...
... so I will also just run manual backups till they fix what MS has broken. :(

Unfortunately I am having trouble getting manual backups to run with one of my drives (the "Snapshot" isn't being created) and my backup definition files have now disappeared from the GUI.

Where exactly are these files stored on the hard disc (so I can take a look and see if they are still there)?

Edit: I found the files. But I am reverting back to version 1511 of Windows 10. I am finding too many problems, and not just with Reflect. I may have a corrupt file system on my data drive that may have been caused by a failed backup attempt which locked up the machine. I won't know until I revert back and check the disc.

If I need a new disc it's not a problem. My data is archived away on multiple potable drives and my NAS. All this troubleshooting just takes up so much time though.

Edit 2: Well I am back running 1511. And all of the problems I was having with drives apparently being corrupt have disappeared.

I didn't do a rapid restore I hope that was ok.

With or without RDR, it would have reverted just fine... a bit longer to do it without (a complete refresh).

The big Win10 update added a 4th partition to my drive. Had to edit my backup job to also include this new partition, but so far all is working well.

I am going to try to stay with 1511 until there is an update from Microsoft.

As rollbacks are only possible in the first 10 days after update, it makes sense to use Macrium Reflect or othe imaging program instead.

    MarcP,

Is it a 450 MB partition following the Win10 partition?

    Krusty13,

    Thanks. Strange sizes.

In your HP laptop, from an Administrator Command Prompt, run

    bcdedit /enum all > C:\bcdedit.txt

In the bcdedit.txt file search for "volume". Find which volume relates to \Recovery\WindowsRE\WinRe.wim

    HD Volumes start at 1

I'm interested to know if the volume is 5. (The MSR partition doesn't appear in Disk Management)

Brian, I ran "bcdedit /enum all > C:\bcdedit.txt" and it finished in one second and then looked to be waiting for a new command. Where do I find the bcdedit.txt file?

    Thanks.

    It's in C: drive root.
