Osaban, See these links regarding GPT partitions... https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn640535(v=vs.85).aspx https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GUID_Partition_Table
Hi Jo Ann Have you tried uninstalling Webroot. It's the one thing that is different with my system. Disabling doesn't accomplish the same things. Pete
Hi Pete, I have not uninstalled WSA, but I did disable it. Frankly, I just don't see the need to uninstall it and I might add that Webroot support concurs, but I do appreciate your interest re the error I'm getting while adding the boot menu option. Jo Ann
Osaban, As TRF mentioned, backup the entire drive. If you have an OS issue you only need to restore the OS partition. Partition #4.
You might try uninstalling it to rule it out. The problem with disabling it is you still have drivers active and may well also have services running. A complete uninstall is really the only way to completely rule it out.
Indeed it is, I also know that partition #6 is the original Win 8 recovery that came pre-installed with the machine...
Osaban, Can you try this? It tells you which Recovery partition is being used. From an administrator Command Prompt type bcdedit /enum all > C:\bcdedit.txt Search for "volume". Find which volume relates to \Recovery\WindowsRE\WinRe.wim HD Volumes start at 1
No feedback as of yet, Jo Ann... still waiting. Can you try one more thing for me. Do the same thing I asked for in THIS post with one exception... bring REFLECT up and run it "As administrator" instead. You can do this by finding REFLECT in your Programs Menu and <right-click> it and select "Run as administrator." Lemme know what happens... PS- was the original TRIAL installation done under an Admin or non-Admin account?
Cruise, at al, your above mentioned TRIAL support policy seems to have changed according to their SUPPORT OPTIONS page... FYI! PS- @Cruise and @Jo Ann , see your PMs
Three failed Windows 10 Anniversary Update installs so far… Luckily I can quickly restore my Windows image using Reflect and try again!
Hi Frog, Per your suggestion (above) I ran Reflect as administrator and again attempted to add the boot menu option - receiving the very same error! Btw, I also downloaded the PE 5 version and again tried adding the boot menu option, with the same result. To answer your PS question, I installed MR under my account (which has administrator rights). I have never had an issue installing any of my apps under my account. Regards, Jo Ann
Ok Pete, per your suggestion I uninstalled WSA, rebooted and then tried adding Reflect's boot menu option - no luck (same error)! Jo Ann
@Jo Ann and @Cruise , Another suggestion in your PMs... PS- don't download anything, just follow the instructins in your PM and try the "Add BOOT Menu" again...
Good. Even if it didn't work, it does eliminate a question mark. Tis a puzzle, as this should be simple
Hey, I know this is a totally dumb question Jo Ann, but you don't automatically shadow your system by chance
@ Frog / Pete, As mentioned in my last post, I incurred the same Boot Menu Option error with v6.1.1225 (April/May time-frame) that JoAnn is now experiencing so I removed the trial version from my PC. If a solution is found for the Boot Menu Option error I'd sure like to do another trial; do you guys know if Macrium permits more than one trial? Cruise
At the moment only 1-trial is accepted, but minor pleading with the email Support Channel <Support@Macrium.com> or with their Sales folks will get you what you want. And if that doesn't work... we can talk some more
I appreciate the tips - I'm definitely interested IF the cause & solution to the Boot Menu Option Error is found...
Brian, I followed your instructions but nothing seems to happen on the command prompt after typing your text. It is not important anyway as I have screenshots of all the partition tables this machine had, namely Win 8, 8.1 and now 10. Partition #6 is the same in all of them. I presume I can safely delete partition #6 being Win 8 recovery (it is 20 GB of space). Looking at the partition table seen by Macrium and the one seen by Windows, with Macrium there is Partition #3 which is not present with the one in Windows. Is that related to Macrium? Thank you so much for your help...
Osaban, Look in the C: drive root. It creates a text file called bcdedit.txt. Do a search for "volume" as described above. When you know the relevant Recovery partition being used you could delete the unused partitions. Then you will have less to backup.
