I have an Acer Aspire. I loaded ESET NOD32 antivirus software from a thumb USB thing that I got at the store. As soon as that finished, my machine locked and I cannot do a thing with it. The machine has XP Service Pack 3. The only way I can turn it off is by holding down the power button. When it comes up it lets me choose the user and then it sits on the desktop with the cursor unable to do a thing. Any ideas of how I can unlock the machine and get the software off?

    Hi!

As nonoise said , you can load the operating system in Safe Mode (where NOD32 will not be loaded) and uninstall it from Start -> Programs -> ESET -> ESET NOD32 Antivirus -> Uninstall . Reboot after that .

After restart , manually delete the following folders:
    - C:\Documents and Settings\All users\Application data\Eset
    - C:\Documents and Settings\~username~\Local Settings\Application data\Eset

If you want to try again , make sure you :
Uninstall your previous security product(s) and reboot after that
Check for any leftovers of the previous program (antivirus , antispyware , etc)
Download and use the latest build - 3.0.672 , from www.eset.com (Download section)
