Dog's signature can be used to describe this situation better.

Giving MVP awards to malware publishers? Now that's STUPID.

The MVP award is deemed void and irrelevant from this day onwards.

Woohoo, seems like the haze has spread to Redmond.

IMO, MVP awards became irrelevant the moment they began handing them out like candy. ;)

Just to inform everyone about the MVP award. They are most certainly not given out to just anyone i can assure you. This matter is being addressed and will be dealt with in due course and the appropriate action taken. I will then at that time be able to report back here as to what action has been taken. In the meantime i would respectfully ask you all to wait for a further announcement from me with regards this issue and not to flame anyone in this thread.

    Thank you

MS gives MVP Award to Adware Pusher

That's just simply ridiculous and absurd, and in a way, insulting to all the other well-established and highly respected MVPs. They are most certainly not given out to just anyone i can insure you. Well, I don't know why this case has happened, but it is giving me the image of some person by the roadside handing out candy sticks and lollipops to the kids passing by. Have a good day I say!

    Hello,
So sad. MS spat in the face of honest people. They made the title meaningless.

As i have said these awards are not handed out to anyone and that Microsoft are looking into the matter and i will report back here when i have some further information to hand. I also asked you to respectfully refrain from the flaming of anyone of which that has not happened and some post's have had to be removed. Therefor this thread will now be closed!

    Thank you

I have now reopened this thread after allowing a cooling off period and hopefully i will not need to close it again!

Well as some of you may of seen is that Mr. Patchou the creator of Messenger Plus! was awarded a MVP Award.

Following an oversight on Microsoft's part his MVP status has been withdrawn.

An official statement will be posted ASAP to these effects and not before. Once again i ask you all to be respectful of all concerned in this matter

Thanking you all in advance for your cooperation :)

    Hi all

    Funny information !

The MVP award is somewhat mysterious...

MS give this award to valuable persons like Mark Russinovich but
remove an other skilled person like Steve Bink from their MVPs program !!! Why ?

And know they give this award to a spyware to Patchou
and his MSN messenger add-on with a spyware ?

I'm not really asthonished of this...
MS is the author of the famous WGAtray ...

Also nicknamed as "slap_in_the_face_ware" by Bill Pytlovany of BillP Studio:
the author of WinPatrol ... and MVP !!!

May be my opinion is somewhat biased since I was MVP shell/user for W xp
    since july 2004...

I asked MS to be removed from their MVP program last september the 6Th...
    (not related to wga...)

    ;-)

    Have fun !

You couldn't make something like that up, unbelievable ! At least the've fixed it now, and might be more selective in future, only for those who want to have an MS tag of course !
