    Hello

What happens if you type EXIT and hit enter?

What happens if you hit Control/Alt/Delete twice?

What happens if you type: shutdown -r -t 01 ?

    Dear Philby.
Thank you for your help. I have informed my friend accordingly. I will let you know if it is successful!

This is the second time I have been indebted to you. An earlier occasion was with regard to losing the "Safely remove icon in Vista Home Premium.

    Thank you.

What do you mean "Lost in DOS"?
There is no "DOS/MSDOS" in Windows NT. There is a "Command prompt" which has also allows many DOS commands to run an DOS virtual machine which provides an environment for DOS emulation.

Start==>Run==>CMD brings up the command prompt which looks similar to the old DOS prompt...except it's running in a window..which you can exit by typing exit, enter..or simply clicking on the X in the upper right corner of the window.
