Loss of internet connection

When using ESS and enabling the firewall, sometimes I loose my connection to the internet. I use a dlink router AND I use Vonage which has somekind of router/modem in line also. If I turn off the firewall, the problem goes away.
Usually when I loose the connection it happens when I am not on the computer......the computer is on line but inactive.
When I decide to use it, Windows says I lost my connection. I have to restart windoz to clear the problem. Using Windoz XP home. Other than than that, the program is great.

Please make sure you have the latest version of ESET Smart Security installed, as well as the latest firmware for your D-Link residential gateway and the Vonage VoIP ATA adapter.
