Looking4 free prog to password-protect USB Flash

Would be great if the program needs no installation, and operate from within the USB flash, in such away that it prompts for a password whenever the USB inserted in any computer. some might say what is the use of a password if the USB contents are not encrypted, that’s fine, but I don’t have time to wait for encrypt/decrypt every time I insert the USB. I just want the password to prohibit an immediate access to the USB flash

Thanks, but reading the information on the site it looks like it will only work when installed on a computer. I'm searching for something that will run from the USB key itself, without the need to install anything

I know this doesn't give you software to protect your thumb drive or flash memory but you could consider this product in the future. 32mb $15.00 U.S.

If I'm not mistaken, that is what you want.

also, it'd help if you mention what exactly are you looking for in 'password security'... because if it's securing your files, you can simply use one of the file encryptors available on every single freeware database.

however if you want to protect your USB drive as a whole, i.e., making it useless if, say for example, it is stolen, then you had better use a paid-for product.

There was also this wonderful article, I forget where, about putting Windows CE onto a USB drive.
