Does anyone know of a software free/paid to batch edit metadata in video files? Something similar to mp3tag except for video files would be optimal. I mainly work with .mkv and .avi files. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

Just basic stuff for tv shows such as title, season #, episode #, year (release date), and maybe cover art. I mostly work with mkv and avi files.

Mediamonkey seemed to work but the tags aren't saved to the file they are just saved in the media player.

Haven't found a reliable option yet.

    Thanks

Not so much but I can try to help you. I used it occasionally in the past and even if is a very powerful tool, it was too much sometimes.

Do you know if its possible to change specific metadata within a file? The only thing im seeing is the automatic naming.

    Thanks

It should save to tags. It must be a setting.
Check: Tools > Options > Library > Tags & Playlists > Update tags when editing properties.
