I am looking for a software that will show up on my system as a printer and give me the option to save any document to pdf format.

I found a free one called primo pdf 3.1.

    Anyone try this or others?

I seem to have good luck with doPDF 5. Free and fast. Good Luck.

Primo has worked well for me. As has CutePDF. Primo is easier though when it's initially setup.

I decided to go with doPDF5 as I really like that it is lightweight. Primo looked really good, but a little heavier on resources than I would think an application of this nature would demand.

Honestly though, all the programs suggested looked good. Thank you.

I used cute pdfwritier for years and then I found pdf redirect. It does the same thing and also allows you to merge documents.
    Takes a bit of learning.
    Take a look.

    various free pdf converter/driver:

    1. cutepdf
    2. bullzip
    3. primopdf
    4. pdfcreator

i tried all four, in terms of features, i will say go for pdfcreator. But of course, you may try all and see which you prefer as feature rich e.g. may not be necessary for your needs.

if you using vista, only the first three supports. pdfcreator not yet, but theres a workaround though
