And imdb, with NoScript, you can create the white list. You can set it up so the only time that you ll have to click on the NoScript menu is when you like to allow a (non white listed) site to play Flash temporarily.

Correct me if I'm wrong. With NoScript and Flash Control, the user allows or blocks flash on a per-page basis. If you allow or block one, you do the same with all of them on the page. With FlashBlock, you could choose which ones to play.

I don't do it like that but you can have it so only the video that you allow to play, plays.

Noone_particular, in the picture, I am playing the Duane and Eric video after allowing Flash for that video. When I click the ABB one in San Fransisco, on the right hand side of the same YouTube webpage, Flash doesn't play unless I click the Placeholder icon.

You are welcome:). Regarding Flash, you can do different things with NoScript. You can set the white list as only WL for JS or white list for JS and Flash. And you can get rid of the placeholder icons. I don't like them so I get rid of them. For me, NoScript works good.

But when you open the plugins page, set Flash to Always Ask. That did the trick for me. I've uninstalled Flash (sudo apt-get purge flashplugin-installer), BTW :) For troublesome vids, I'll use Google Chrome or download the video with youtube-dl or play it via mpv from a terminal.

If you search the comments in http://www.ghacks.net/2014/12/02/firefox-34-feels-rushed/ for Flashblock someone points to a bugzilla thread which holds out hope for an update. But I'm finding Flash isn't necessary on Firefox for Linux at least. There are more resource-friendly ways to view those videos.

aamof, noone_particular was right when he said:

with noscript if you enable flash on the page you're viewing, it gets enabled for all flash-based content, i.e. videos, flash-based ads, etc.
but with flashblock, no flash content gets enabled unless you specifically click on it to enable it.
that's the key point of flashblock and what's missing in others that also has a whitelist.

You can set NoScript to do what you want. I posted here to help you and posted one picture to prove that it can be done. The rest is up to you.

On XP and Win7, in SeaMonkey it's per video, not page.
In Add-ons Manager I set flash to always Ask to Activate.
In NoScript Youtube is in the whitelist.
NoScript always asks for every video on that page. So long as the "ask for confirmation" is checked on the NS alert about embedding, I suppose. Maybe Firefox is different.

I have no other flash controls or blockers in SeaMonkey.

The above can be read under:
