Uh... Yes? It feels like every other week when Google removes dozens of malware apps from the store. The same happens for Apple but nowhere near as often. Auditing has other advantages, for example, there are no apps on iOS stealing your data behind your back because that's caught by the auditors.
First Malicious Chrome Extensions Detected Using Session Replay Scripts https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...nsions-detected-using-session-replay-scripts/
I don't use many extensions, but when I do want one its for an important/useful reason. I would gladly pay a few dollars for an extension that is "digitally signed" by Google's team and certified CLEAN. Seriously if they offered a service that would sign and certify an extension as opposed to the "author" putting a free un-signed one right next to it, I would without fail BUY the signed (by Google) package. Indirectly that is how Apple does it metaphorically.
Good idea, perhaps extensions should also be signed. It won't solve all problems but it's a start. But I'm not willing to pay for extensions though.
