Lock up after installing latest demo version of AVG antispyware

    I use to own the program but have in the last year chose not to use anti spyware programs on my system. Installed the latest version of AVG AS, last night, after turning my computer on this morning and ran a memory scan the system locked up completely, something of which hasn't happened for a very long time.

    Programs I was using were AVG AS, Firefox and google desktop at the same time, another recently installed program was a demo of powerstrip.

    Hello ekwipt,

    regarding the "lock up" issue could you please provide us with
    information if it happens every time you scan computer using AVG
    Anti-Spyware or if it was isolated issue ?

    In case the computer is freezing during "Memory Scan" only (Scanner ->
    Memory Scan) we would recommend use some tool to check memory modules,
    for example using "Memtest86" available at http://www.memtest.org/

    In case computer keeps freezing also during the filesystem scan,
    please try to scan your hardrive for errors, also flushing of
    internet browser cache and Windows temporary folders might help (some
    corrupted archives might be stored there).

    The easiest way to remove mentioned files is to run Disk Cleanup (click Start -> Run -> type "cleanmgr" without quotes and confirm by OK).
    In Disk Cleanup program please tick options "Temporary Files" and "Temporary Files" and press OK.

    Hi Ondrej ,

    It was everytime i ran the scanner.

    I've uninstalled the program now may, reinstall at some time, thanks for the support
