I administer a Win 2003 DC which sits on an x-card in an IBM iSeries.

We need to increase the boot/system partition (C:) from 4GB (the maximum at the time of install) to something bigger. There is plenty of space available but the iseries makes space visible and usable to Windows although it handles all disk I/O itself.

The procedure will be to create a new storage volume from the AS\400 side and copy the existing C: drive into this. The As\400 treats all Windows partitions as single objects so we will end up with a C partition of, say, 10GB with the original 4GB at the beginning and 6GB of unformatted space. Window's Diskpart.exe utility will not operate on boot partitions.

We cannot boot up using a floppy or boot CD so are looking at products which will accomplish this task in real time. IBM's suggestion was Powerquest's Server Magic which now appears to be Symantec's VolumeManager and does not support 2003.

Is there an Acronis product which will do this?

    Thanks

    John

    No response?

Looks like Paragon Partition Manager Server edition will do the job.

    Hello John,

Thank you for your interest in Acronis Disk Management Software.

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Acronis Disk Director Suite 9.0 supports Windows 2003 server OS. However reboot is required when you perform operations on the boot partition.

We are always at your service should you have any further questions.

    Thank you.
