I assume he did not add them because their AV sucks against American malware.

Someone should translate it. It is the only decent free antivirus that is based on the BD engine. The only thing that we have is ZenOK and it is very bad.

Any recent opinions on Forticlient Lite as far as detection rate and also resource usage? I am considering it for a 3 year old laptop with 2GB RAM and an Intel Pentium T3400 processor. Also using Zemana Antilogger and WinPatrol in real-time plus various scanners alongside a few security add ons in FF.Thanks

I fix friends and family's computers as a hobby. Now I have got a client with an older system.

Specs are: XP SP2 AMD 3500+ 2.21 HZz 1BG RAM

Before installing Avira Free Personal Antivirus version 10 I made an OS image, lucky me. What happened after the install was that the system got terribly slow. Took 3-5 minutes only to load up the desktop and this while there is no other software except the OS and drivers installed. All software used is portable from a flash drive.

From personal experience Avira has never let me down and so far also never actually found a virus, I guess I am cautious about where I surf to and what I download. Perhaps a few heuristic pop-ups but that is about it. On my system this runs fine, however as mentioned the client's system got terribly slow after installation of that so we reverted to an image before that and are now left with a question mark.

The client's system got the Comodo Firewall, fine tuned with rules for everything already set up and that also runs smooth as a cat and super fast. The only thing is Avira Free Personal Edition 10 (v.12 runs only with SP3, what a load of crap!) making this whole thing really slow, with Default Settings on top of that.

Soooo now the question: What other Free Virus/Malware protection can you recommend that does not freeze down / makes terribly slow an older system? No worries the client is knowledgeable and likewise careful about surfing questionable sites as well as downloading questionable content. We basically need some solid but lightweight protection that does no cling into every process/registry and scans every mouse click.

I know this is a tricky question to ask but I do hope that some of you might have an idea. Very happy to test out a few scenarios. Never hard anything from Comodo Antivirus and not sure that is good enough, if you say it is happy to install that next to the firewall from Comodo but as I say, never heard of it or particularly this being good so only use the free firewall and that I find great.

    Thanks for any help!
