Sorry, I just remembered I'm timing from the Boot Menu onwards. So add another 15 seconds or so from the power button to the Boot Menu.
Do you have a Swap partition? I don't. In a previous computer that had Mint and a Swap partition, I deleted the Swap partition and the Mint boot time became several minutes.
It mostly depends of the Kernel version installed, if you know what you're are doing you can play with differents ones, otherwise wait for a new one to be automatically installed. Latest stable Kernel is 4.18.1 at this time, Mint use LTS (long time service) kernel which is minus version of the above one. rules.
How do you go about getting the one that you posted? My update manager shows a kernel update for 4.15.0.32.34
https://www.kernel.org/ you can use Ukuu (Ubuntu kernel update utility) : https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2017/02/ukuu-easy-way-to-install-mainline-kernel-ubuntu Or with terminal : https://community.linuxmint.com/tutorial/view/1718 Make sure you have Grub menu at startup otherwise you can't load your OS if something goes wrong with the new kernel (with grub menu at startup you can easily revert back to the previous one using advanced options) https://www.aioboot.com/en/show-grub2-menu/ It's really depends of you hardware, a newer version of kernel (stable), could work better or not or can completly break your system. Long Time Service Kernel (LTS) is recommended for production machine, test-it before. AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! rules.
Thanks for this. Yes, I can get into grub by pressing shift at the beginning. I'll check all of this out.
