I'd never heard of it before. And apparently it's using Xfce :), though they've changed the layout to something more KDE-ish. About the keyboard: I guess you all had to go get new ones with a euro sign when you changed from the old "markka" :) Oh, and are you using ewido in linux?

Yes, albeit it's on my USB Flash Stick, but it's still updating and capable to scan my system. I don't have WinXP Home at all anymore in my Acer laptop.

    Best regards,

There is an option to use KDE or GNOME as well in SAM, just install all available KDE/GNOME programs through Synaptic and choose one of these to use with, that's it. Still I prefer Xfce, it's so fast and simple.

If my memory serves me right, and if SAM is the same as PCLOS, there should be something in Synaptic called 'task-gnome' and 'task-xfce' or similar, which installs everything you need for each without having to select a bunch of programs. I've used this approach in PCLOS with success for both Gnome and Xfce. Makes life easier... :)

You were right. Unfortunately that "task-kde" was missing.

Yes, I think there is no "task-kde" since KDE comes installed by default with the system out of the box... so no need for it in Synaptic.

Yes, but KDE is only by default in PCLOS and Granular Linux and Granular is also based on PCLOS but English only.

    Best regards,

This release may offer the solution you are looking for, as quoted from their page, "Rational – it uses one mainstream application for each task." (Simple is the keyword I look for...)

Zenwalk? If so, post back about how it goes! The write-up on this one looks interesting.

Zenwalk is great if you like an Xfce based minimalist setup. I used the 4.6 release a while back and really loved it. Simple, yet it has most of what you need. Nicely done too...

From searching their forum, I don't see the usual "noapic" error that I see quite often at other forums and on my screen when trying LiveCDs or installs lately...
