Summary: This release includes several Btrfs updates: support of metadata blocks bigger than 4KB, much improved metadata performance, better error handling and better recovery tools; there is also a new X32 ABI which allows to run programs in 64 bit mode with 32 bit pointers; several updates to the GPU drivers: early modesetting of Nvidia Geforce 600 'Kepler', support of AMD RadeonHD 7xxx and AMD Trinity APU series, and support of Intel Medfield graphics; there is also support of x86 cpu driver autoprobing, a device-mapper target that stores cryptographic hashes of blocks to check for intrusions, another target to use external read-only devices as origin source of a thin provisioned LVM volume, several perf improvements such as GTK2 report GUI and a new 'Yama' security module. There are also many small features and new drivers and fixes are also available.

Damn they move fast, I swear I was just compiling 3.3.4 the other day and it's already on 3.3.6

So, did the "android drivers" make it for 3.4?

Pretty sure some of the code made it in in earlier commits but I really don't know.

The x32 system call ABI

That best-of-both-worlds situation is exactly what the x32 ABI is trying to provide. A program compiled to this ABI will run in native 64-bit mode, but with 32-bit pointers and data values. The full register set will be available, as will other advantages of the 64-bit architecture like the faster SYSCALL64 instruction. If all goes according to plan, this ABI should be the fastest mode available on 64-bit machines for a wide range of programs; it is easy to see x32 widely displacing the 32-bit compatibility mode.

The new version sees a number of important changes affecting graphics drivers. The x32-ABI promises the advantages of x86-64-CPUs without the overhead of 64-bit code. Btrfs is reported to be quicker, and Yama prevents processes from accessing each other's allocated memory.
