good to hear private firewall is serving you well. I had used it for a couple of months until I moved on to paid solution. I was impressed. It is a very light firewall. Now it's installer is even smaller(only 3mb due to the removal of that id theft crap).

 

Filseclab FW? ...it's not a joke

 

did you try it yourself?.....how does it compare with pfw in lightness of course?......

NO, THEY ARE NOT!
Both are individual programs with its own settings and rules!
But all (3) uses WFP.

You can enable Windows Firewall with Advanced Security through the Microsoft Management Control with a snap-in and it gives you much more control over incoming and outgoing rules.

From the site I referenced:

"Windows Firewall with Advanced Security is designed for advanced users and IT professionals, and offers more powerful configuration options than the standard Windows Firewall. You can now configure Inbound and Outbound Rules, Block or Allow incoming or outgoing connections based off Protocols and Ports and/or Programs and Services, and configure IPSec. The Inbound and Outbound Rules can be enforced on predefined profiles, Public, Private, Domain or all Profiles. WFAS becomes handy in instances where you need to enable a rule that allows traffic for a specific service while connected to one network profile, but not on another. For example, you can allow FTP traffic for the Domain (Work) Profile but not for the Public Profile. This would mean that computers at your work place can connect to your computer hosting an FTP service, whereas such traffic is blocked when you’re connected to another network."


I don't use Windows anymore but it's what I used with Vista, that and the Sphinx Software frontend just so I could see what was going on with it, and never had a bad experience with it in over 4 years.

 

i must disagree with you on your view on private firewall.
i like the program but it wont stealth all the ports like others do.
this was the only reason i stopped using it because i couldnt stealth all the ports and couldnt find a workaround.
