The trouble with humans going to mars is that you can not afford to make even one mistake. If you break a piece of equiptment you are up the creek. To get a replacement part is impossible in time to make any difference if it is a critical piece. If you happen to get injured you could really be in trouble. If your transportation back to earth won't work You better just hope that there is a relief ship really close.Anyone that would actually go to mars Is either the bravest person around or they are awfully dedicated to the space program beyond personal safety.Becuase the space program to explore mars doesn't have a very good track record. Maybe the current program will have a better outcome than in the past. ;)

You're right, the biggest challenge is the irremediability of the situation. Which is one of the reasons they hope to do it by way of a permanent presence on the Moon. They need to establish a better knowledge and better technologies for dealing with these isolated environments. Either way, they still need to rely on the bravery and dedication of the crewmembers involved.

To be truthful it was the only pic I found on short notice. If I looked like that I think I might want a little cosmetic surgery. :)

Here is the proposed landing site on mars. If there are any opposing votes to this landing site please inform the crew of your proposed site.

There appears to be a lot of talk and planning but no action......so when is this project going to get off the ground.

"To Mars, the first frontier, for Man (and Woman) to bravely go where no one in their right mind would want to go, to be the first human to set foot on a distant planet. OH! by the way whilst your there do you think you could pile up all the junk in one place so that things don't look too untidy.

I wonder why all these Teresstrial vehicles that have been landed on Mars haven't been located near each other?.....then the working ones could have maybe given the duff ones a swift kick in the slats and maybe brought them to life.....just a thought.

Cochise, Staying on TERROR Firma.

As the captain of the crew, I decided to lift off on April 1st. I wanted to leave before but the rocket is stuck in the ice. So we just wait for spring to come...

Sounds like a good plan to me Uguel, Mmmmm! April 1st? has slight overtones don't you think, not a good omen for success, I would be inclined to make it April 3rd, that's sort of a nondescript date, good omen.

Have the science Boffins for this enterprise taken into account the ageing effects of distant space travel, you don't all want to get back in a couple of months time and find you all looking about eighty, some, like me, you wouldn't notice the difference but you young lovelies...well......don't say I didn't warn you.

My God Bless All Who Volunteer........No!....No!....Paint, never volunteer.........What have I told you......

    Cochise,

I don't know  I thought that April 1st had just the right overtone for the expedition.

To the people on Earth, the people returning from the expedition will seem to have aged less (not that this is a consideration in my electing to go on the expedition!) :D

I understand Paint not wanting to go, the straw on Earth is better than the Martian variety! ;)

When I took my Rover back with me from Mars..he did not come back alone :D :D

He was my high tech watch dog. If you bring back any Mars Rocks with you on the April 1 trip..check them out real close..and once again..stay away from the yellow snow  :p

Wouldn't it be a good thing if Paint take an appointment
    with a dental hygienist?

No! Don't get me wrong, Ol' Paint would volunteer in the blink of an eye but with his dicky tummy and all that, NOT a good idea believe me.
