Thanks. Looking back over the thread I see where Fresh and Still have been discussed I don't know how many times. Probably should have read first, but I noticed they call it Fresh one place and Still another. Here's the release schedule: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/ReleasePlan Thinking I may just stick with Still this time rather than updating more than I probably need to. Just that I've tended to update every time the latest and greatest is announced.
The Document Foundation announces feature-rich LibreOffice 5.3 https://blog.documentfoundation.org...ation-announces-feature-rich-libreoffice-5-3/ ------------------ New Features : http://www.libreoffice.org/discover/new-features/ --------------- Edit:
Great news! LO is an excellent program. (That said, I always wait until the first bug fix release (like 5.3.x) before upgrading to the latest major 5.x version.)

Exactly! I reverted back to the previous version because of this. After installing LibreOffice 5.3.2 all menus looked "beautified", like ClearType or something similar was enabled. And the menu was "flickering" after i hovered over it with the mouse. OpenGL was disabled, i disabled GPU-Acceleration and similar things, but nothing has changed. After installing 5.3.1 it looked "normal" again and the flickering was gone (and some more issues which i have noticed with 5.3.2) Tomorrow i will install v5.3.2 on another PC to see if i get the same results.
I had to enable OpenGL to stop the flickering. EDIT: I reverted back to 5.3.1 and I was mildly alarmed when I saw the same font issue but then I realised that OpenGL was activated (for some reason) and disabling it fixed it. So it seems like a bug in 5.3.2
Guess what... this isn't a bug, it's a "feature". I'm not kidding, they consciously made this change and actually think this blurry mess is better. https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106990 I miss OpenOffice...
And in the bugreport (and other bugreports) i could find something about the flickering issue. It is also "by design"
Announcement of LibreOffice 5.2.7 [Still] https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2017/05/09/libreoffice-5-2-7/ ------------------------ 5.3.2 = The latest "fresh" version of LibreOffice, recommended for technology enthusiasts. 5.2.7 = The mature "still" version of LibreOffice, recommended for enterprises.
What I don't like of Libre Office is that it's slower in opening than MS Office. Whatever Office I use, it don't start automatically at the system boot, but I launch it when I need: Libre is slower.

The Document Foundation releases LibreOffice 5.3.4 [Fresh] https://www.libreoffice.org/download/download/ ---------- Update: LibreOffice 5.3.4 immediately available for download https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2017/06/26/libreoffice-5-3-4/
LibreOffice 5.4.0 (Fresh) Released (July 28, 2017) Announcement Release Notes Download In case of problems with OpenGL:
Fresh is the latest stable release. Still is the version intended for enterprise deployments; think of it as a long-term version of LO.
Some companies are providing long-term support for enterprise deployments (including security updates) for at least three years. I have tried v5.4.0, but i can see the same issue. Flickering, "distorted fonts", etc. But v5.3.1 still runs fine without any issues and i will keep using it.
Yeah, I haven't noticed the flickering, but the fonts still look bad. Kind of worries me as I thought it was supposed to be "RESOLVED FIXED" (https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=106990) and that it would be available in 5.4. I don't know of anything better than LibreOffice (at least not that I'm willing to pay for), but I sometimes wonder about the wisdom of releasing a new version every X weeks no matter what. I think I would stick with the "stable" version if they ever came out with one that works for me again, but as it is, I'm actually stuck back on version 5.1.6 because the next version came out with a bug that wouldn't paste RTF properly and retain the formatting, and now that they finally got that fixed (I think) some versions later it has a new bug that makes it look ugly and unprofessional.
Please note that a few security flaws (heap-buffer-overflows) were fixed since 5.1.6. See LibreOffice security advisories.
