this is a thread for LO, i wrote about LO, where is the mistake? to be more precisely - the code base is 13 years old. it does not matter what they improve, remove, or add. the product is not stable because rather old code base.
That can be said about any software. Even with big new releases, there is always old code. For Windows for example once in a while a vulnerability pop-up that has been in the code for years or even a decade. Just with a quick online search I even found one that was in the code for 17 years: https://www.neowin.net/news/microso...visory-for-17-year-old-windows-vulnerability/
Agreed. I used to work for a major software provider that had 20 year old comments in the source code. There probably is no mature source code that doesn't have original code in it. That is not necessarily a bad thing.
The biggest blocker to LibreOffice adoption? LibreOffice. We need to talk philosophy today. This be an article discussing the problems with LibreOffice growth and adoption among businesses and individual users, focusing on Microsoft Office OOXML file format compatibility, pragmatic necessities of everyday usage, technical issues in the office suite, and more. Take a look. https://www.dedoimedo.com/computers/libreoffice-adoption.html Cheers, Mrk
Seriously, a 13 years old article? Win11 is 64-bit only, so what? and you cannot compare LibreOffice to windows which is much more complex. LO is not stable because the code base is rather old, despite adding or changing features. the code is not fully compatible to windows since years. maybe xp, or win7, but not a current win10/11. nevertheless, anyone is free to have his choice, if it dont brake, thats luck
I read it: I totally agree. In my experience, most problem occur using Calc, and also trying to open PPTX files with Impress. And it seems that there aren't useful and better free alternatives to Libre Office.
While I agree that better comparability is needed. Once LibreOffice goes that route, Microsoft will find away to foil it. I disagree "Calc is just as not as good as Excel, period,". I'd say Calc is better than Excel.

LibreOffice for Enterprises For enterprise-class deployments, TDF strongly recommends the LibreOffice Enterprise family of applications from ecosystem partners – for desktop, mobile and cloud – with a number of value-added features and benefits such as SLA (Service-Level Agreements): see this page. Every line of code developed by ecosystem companies for their enterprise customers is shared with the community on the master code repository, and improves the LibreOffice Technology platform.
