The same Asus slide also reveals the price of the full-fat Windows 8 Vivo Tab: $800 (and again, a ridiculous $200 for the docking station/keyboard). $799 isn’t too crazy, but again the hardware specs are pretty weak: They’re the same as the Vivo Tab RT, but with an 11.6-inch screen (still 1366×768 ),and a dual-core Clover Trail Atom processor instead of the quad-core Tegra 3. For $1000 (the tablet plus the dock), you could get a mid-range ultrabook with an Intel Core i5 processor, or two entry-level laptops.

The two Vivo Tabs also tell us how Microsoft will price its own Surface tablets. Microsoft could sell the Surface RT for $500 (it doesn’t have to pay itself for an OS license, after all), but I suspect that would severely damage its OEM relationships. Likewise, the Surface Pro, which has similar specs to the Vivo Tab but a higher-res screen and a Core i5 processor, will probably cost $900 or more.

Indeed. Not only that, but the article only talks about one OEM. There are many OEMs and they will be competing with each other on price.
