    Hi,

I've been reading this thread (great idea for a tool!) - Quick Q: would this clear Jump List entries, as desired here?

Also, re app development, is there any way to pass parameters, automating the cleaning stage?

I imagine, for example, if the user is able to automate the cleaning of "recent files" intelligently (filter suggestions: by app ID, file path, datetime...) the (linked) request would be possible (without having to *ban* an application from using those lovely jump-lists :)

    Just thunkin'

    Hello @jonnyhuk,

what you request (selective Jumplists cleanup), is already part of PrivaZer.
See screenshot. You can select, by programs names, the Jumplists you want to clean.
For instance, you can clean the Jumplists of your web browsers which may contain your last visited websites
or most visited websites, or the one of your Windows Explorer,etc...

The items you pinned in your Jumplists (the ones you need) will be preserved.
Other items (revealing your activity) will be securely deleted.

PrivaZer has many unique feature like this one and maybe we should communicate more on this to get more people to know
how far PrivaZer can go to protect users privacy.

    Hope it helps.

That is what I call a good tool !

I looked at everything it pulled-up and I have to say that privacy-wise , there was nothing there that bothered me .....
... in particular , no references to banking , shopping or travel booking.

The thing that puzzled me was that there were dates like " from the Captains Log " on the Starship Enterprise

    eg - Run .EXE file rundll32.exe C:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe 12/04/3895 ....... ( plus the time of day - ;) )

Now what is that all about ?

.... all I can say is that it is only folders that have these way-in-the-future dates , all of the date stamps on files
are perfectly reasonable and understandable !

Can somebody clue me in ?

    Hello @quietman,

you get "12/04/3895" because you used PrivaZer to protect your privacy and
what you may not know is that PrivaZer can defeat LastActivityView.

For instance, as you can see, PrivaZer scrambles program execution dates (stored in Prefetch files) to prevent from recovery of activity history
(PrivaZer deletes many other entries that could be displayed in LastActivityView).

    Hope it helps.

Nothing like making it obvious that the records have been altered. Can't this be done so that the dates appear to be real?

That's how we coded it to scramble dates (today +10 year + random period).
We wanted it to be not obvious and it seems that it is... ;)

IMO, it would be better if the dates were real but wrong, or missing entirely. I don't know of any system error or circumstance that would create dates like those. That just makes it obvious that the user has scrambled the data. I'd be concerned that this could be regarded as destruction of evidence.

My thanks to everyone at The PrivaZer Team for clearing up this puzzle .
My only remaining query would be " why is this method applied to folders and not to files ? " .

noone_particular , I take your point , but we live in an imperfect world.
What more can I say ?

I found the way to remove these findings: First delete windows Prefetch entries "C:\Windows\Prefetch" this will delete all the .exe files in LastActivityView. Next Run RegSeeker2.5.7 and select privacy Key on the left side of the menu, and at the bottom select "Clean stream MRU/streams Keys". That's all there is to it.
You can download RegSeeker2.5.7 on the Portable Freeware website

Deleting all Windows Prefetch is not a good idea if you want to preserve your computer boot speed.

Prefetch have to be smartly cleaned. Here are some details on what should be done to preserve your privacy and your computer speed :

    1. Deletion of invalid Prefetch
Prefetch for programs that no longer exists on your PC

    2. Deletion of unused Prefetch
Prefetch for programs that you do not use often

    3. Deletion of software execution history
Prefetch contains the date of the last time you've launched the program and that's a privay issue.
So, we decided to scramble this date. (See the discussion above)

    Hello @EASTER,

    sorry. I missed your post.

ShellBag Analyzer + Cleaner is a portable .exe
Maybe we could do like the portable version of PrivaZer and add a config files like "shellbag-analyzer.ini" storing user choices. No?
