You are wrong, NOD32 has already become a serious threat to all big names av programs. ;) :D

Sorry..."becoming a serious threat"o_O As far as I'm concerned, NOD32 is the ONLY choice and has been for several years.

McAfee hasn't been a contender in the AV stakes for about 5 years, and Symantec shot themselves in the foot with their 2005 Security Suite code bloat. The only real contender is Kaspersky...and I REALLY don't like their method of "streamlining" files. It takes half an hour or more to remove the program from the PC.

All of the above is IMHO, of course. ;)

NOD32, since I know it (2 years), always have the most advanced features first than any other AV... (ex: excellent heuristics, web scanner...)

They didn't have the best detection rate like KAV, neither the marketing, but the rest...

And I never been infected with NOD32, so... ;)

    But nothing is perfect.

Definitely like the way the app is going. I'm just about ready to uninstall BOClean. The only thing it has done is produce false positivies. NOD32 has caught everthing before it did.

LOL now all we need to do is fix the... *cough* rendering bug.

I'm really happy that they added detection for more symbian viruses. I'm a S60 user and more and more viruses & trojans are created for the symbian os.

Thanks Eset, really great work!!! :)

But I can't classify a program only because of detection test results... ;)

Do we not need BOClean now that NOD is adding more protection. Would BOClean only add conflict if running NOD on the same computer? Thankfully neither has had to be alerted but just wondered if I need to uninstall BOClean now o_O

    Hi tazdevl,
Every scanner produces false positives sometimes.
Have you told Kevin about those?
I'm sure he will fix them quickly.

    Hi Robyn,
I can only speak for myself:
    I'll definitely keep using BOClean.
You know, the layered defence ;)

Well, this is the NOD32 forum and not a BOClean forum ;) ;)

  19. regarding the layered defense ..... it's only sensible... no-one relies on a burglar alarm without doors, windows, lights, locks etc... why would your computer safetuy be any less?

A layers on my computers that is for sure :)
Thanks Fran advice taken ;) NOD has certainly seen a lot of changes and I have only had it installed for a few months now!

At least I can keep track of all the additions and reasons for adding things with the forum.
Will get today's update when I have my notebook on later.

Always tell Kevin. My point was that given the improvements in NOD32, I'm beginning to question the need for BOClean these days. It hasn't demonstrated any added value because NOD32 has performed so well.

There are forum users here who run KAV or NOD and still run either BOClean or Ewido. These people including some moderators are more knowlegeable than I, so I take my cue from them. Wait until the August test results at AV-Comparatives are in at least. Even then I will probably keep BOClean as resource usage is minimal.
