    Hi everybody :)

I've been testing the (free) Kmeleon stand-alone browser over the past few weeks, and I must say that I'm delighted. So much so that I'm afraid of missing out on something about it, since I hear so little about Kmeleon despite being so satisfied with it myself.

Usually a great believer in Opera, I have to say that even Opera seems suddenly so slow in comparison with Kmeleon.

I'd like to hear about your experiences and advices about Kmeleon.

    Thanks,

    Rgds, Crockett

Yes this is THE fastest browser I seen on WIndows !
But takes too much time to configure/modify etc.
    Development seems stalled.

Kmeleon 0.7 SP1 is based on Mozilla 1.2b not Mozilla 1.4 final.

Monkisage's alternative compilation using Moz 1.2.1 and
Moz 1.5a known as Mozi-Mel is here:

but he wont be updating it anymore :-(

Hi SKA :) Hope you're doing fine...

IMHO, Kmeleon is very easy to configure, needs just a few clicks... ('Edit' menu, choosing 'Preferences'.) Although I would agree to say it's a pity it doesn't have a 'Quick Preferences' option just like Opera...

Thanks for your comments and the link - gonna try it right away.
BTW, did you see any spectacular difference between the Sourceforge K07 release and the alternative one you're referring to ? Speed, stability, ...?

    Regards,

    Crockett

Thanks Crockett for your kind greets ! <g>

Any Speed diiference in 0.7SP1 (sourceforge) vs. Mozi-Mel
(monkisage) build - not really, the original seems faster, but Mozi-Mel build fixes many bugs/etc described on his page.

Monkisage opinion is that Firebird offers more customisability than Kmeleon,so he won't be updating his Mozi-Mel build anymore.

As Kmeleon is not weighed down by cross platform or XUL
demands it can just use Gecko Runtime Engine and is really optimised well for Windwos.

I think why few talk of it is some features of big browsers are just not there and also because Mozilla itself is changing and may use Firebird from version 1.5 onwards. Kmeleon does not need to use Firebird at all - it has Gecko.

    Not at all, SKA.

Thanks to YOU for the comments regarding Kmeleon - I learned more about it by reading your last two posts than through any other source previous !
