i am currently using KIS 2011 on an intel atom desktop & though it is sluggish sometimes especially during startup on an average i am satisfied with the performance.now i want to know if upgrading to 2012 version is worth it or not in regard of the performance i.e.can i expect improved system performance or not with upgrade & if the improvement will be significant.system is 1.8GHz atom with 2GB ram running windows 7 ultimate 32-bit.

You should upgrade, KIS 2012 is lighter than 2011, not much but lighter.

My brother recently bought an ASUS Eee PC which had kaspersky v2012 installed, worked really well no slowdowns encountered:) Go for it:thumb:

I doubt that as the AV database format might've got some optimizations in 2012. Someone else might could know better though.

I was running KAV2010 perfectly fine on prehistoric Atom N270. So any modern multi-core Atom should handle it fine.

well i installed the 2012 version on my single core atom 1.8GHz system.2012 is definitely faster than 2011 version especially during startup.also i used the kaspersky update utility along with updates folder of 2011 version which resulted in a total download of ~65mb during 1st update most of which was program patches(12.0..374 to 12.0.0.374.a.b.c.d.e.f.g).it means one can use updated definitions from older version kaspersky to save time & data during 1st update of 2012.

I would uninstall. It will reduce the odds of having any issues.
