I opend Kingsoft Sp5.2 and it now says sp5.3, it did not tell me there was an upgrade - it was just there!

Shouldn't I have gotten a popup from the program at least telling me there was an upgrade?

If i did not open it I would not even know it upgraded.
and that was a real fast upgrade - totally different than any other program that does an upgrade.

ok i kinda take it back. On my Windows home premium 7 sp1 it just showed up when I opened the program.

I also have it installed on another windows pro sp1 64bit, there it is just sitting and nothing popped up to tell me there was an upgrade (it should popup or when you open the program it should tell you there is an upgrade or how would you know? The average user does not come in here to see if there are upgrades.
    This feature should be added.

On this computer I did it manually by using the updater and it asked me for a reboot of the computer.

I do not know if it was a coinsidence or what but when she rebooted it stated " The device monitor was unable to start

It seems the device was my printer. That never happened before.

I checked the printer and it is working fine, I did a test page.

i do not know if this is a bug, but it did it in sp2 and still in sp3
I found this on both machines I have it on.
    I did a Quick scan
    it found this

    http://imgur.com/83fNB

This is an apple file and I know it is safe

So I tried to tell it to Trust it, as you see it will not allow me to trust it
So i tell it to Ignore it instead and I also went back in and unchecked it.

When it goes back to the main screen it comes up like this

    http://imgur.com/3lr2L

Why can't I trust it? because now it is saying I am still vulnerable and it is telling me to do the scan again. When doing the scan again, it loops to the same thing.

Can't you make it so I can trust the file so it will not show it on the main screen or at least allow me to Ignore it and also not show it on the main screen as a threat?

Try doing what the popup says. Remove the checkmark in front of the entry and click "Trust" button. Maybe then it will work...

I suggest you report it on Kingsoft forums. Or poke a representative of Kingsoft here on Wilders. They seem to be quite active on fixing things up.

Sadly Kingsoft made my of my XP laptops unusable. I installed it due to it being light - the preinstalled Symantic Internet Security trial was extremely resource hungry (a really old version - however this is a refurbished laptop and it was included with the XP install which had been restored).

I did the install before doing the required reboot after uninstalling Symantec, however I don't see that this would be an issues. I even ran AppRemover and Norton's own uninstaller - both in safe mode, as Windows wasn't working otherwise, and it did not fix the problem.

For now I'm going to give the newly released KV2011 from Jiangmin a try. It's a shame their English released lag to so far behind the Chinese versions - there is a new Chinese version called Jiangmin Speed Essential.

I installed Kingsoft today on Windows 7 X64 with no problems. I appreciate the additional security....I rely on this forum before installing apps and am very grateful for Wilders Security Forums. Thanks to all!:thumb:

You just diagnosed the problem yourself. Installing other security software before doing a reboot after uninstalling old one is not a good thing to do.
