The full installer with the local av database. Look on the main page, it's below the main download button in small letters. I believe it uses the Avira engine and the Blue engine while the cloud version uses the Blue engine.

Why do they make both available? It's confusing.

I like the idea of getting the Avira defs, but are they continuing development on a free product that is barely noticeable on the download page?

Do they want us to use it, or just use the cloud version?

Which one are the majority of us using?

as far as i understood , both are the same.

    light install
    full install

the kingsoft folder size from a light install after getting updates would be exactly like the full install one.

but the truth is what that Selina will say :thumb:

That is the test vedio of SP4.0, we are improving the detection rate step by step, we collect virus samples from many ways as from VirusTotal, other company, virus website, etc, and many users help to upload the samples to us everyday. We will continue to do this with our best.
If any samples can not be detected, please contact us.

User Gill Gates shared another video in our forum, it is the test video on SP5:

Good questions. I have used the cloud version for 2 1/2 months now and it seems really solid.

I guess I may have mis-stated that the full version uses the Avira engine. I really don't know if it does but it does use Avira's defs.

When I posted the other day I installed the full version on a friends PC and was surprised to see that it did not update SP5.1.

The full version is a solution for a part of offline users, perhaps it will not be updated for a long time.
The Cloud version will be continuous updated, we recommend you to keep this version.

That reply did not clarify anything.all mumbo jumbo.
Does anybody else have any ideas on why kingsoft failed in the video.
It was tested by a well known tester and it failed miserably.Any explanations on this.? :ninja:

It's an old program version in that video.

How well would Avast 5 or Panda Cloud version 1.0 do these days?

Is Kingsoft using a lot of handles for anyone else? Just noticed it's using over 5,000 for me at the moment. KXESCORE along is using 4,900.

Yeah it seems that he dislikes fully cloud powered AVs in general o_O

  21. Because they suck in detection. Sorry but that's the truth. But kudos for making it FREE.

The video is only a month old.
And the reviewer was using an updated version of kingsoft.
So why did it fail so badly.?.People should watch the review and see that it performs very badly.
Any ideas why this is so? :ninja:

Hmm well what constitutes a proper test .
It seemed fairly conclusive to me and the reviewer has been testing products for years.Im still not convinced.
Any ideas why kingsoft failed in this test!!

It failed because it didn't detect some of the samples.I try different avs regularly and test them against stuff on the common malware sites. All of them fail at some time. There'snnothing surprising about that. That's how most Avs work..playing catch up
