Wow! Why not? I mean they all claim to do so. Not to disagree with you or say your wrong, but how can they claim to do so if they don't? Or are some Keyloggers just so bad that you need a specialty software to prevent and detect them?

Yes too bad they use directx method, actually the most cruel of all, I think the latest rootkits that we don´t know use this technique. The biggest problem comes when rootkit is first on system then even with best protection and anti-directx-logging would probably not help. I guess AKLT shows one method of directx spying but I have the strange feeling that there are much more unknown methods.

Excuse me for bumping this thread up again, but I got kind of lost in this discussion, especially when Mr. Spock ;) and Longview took the floor, but what I wanted to ask is: In summary, are Keyloggers a form of malware that computer users can't really defend themselves against? o_O

It´s a malware class that can work without any interaction with the client OS. With little effort you can defend yourself against known malicious code, but if it´s unknown, so called "zero-day" code that is scriptbased exploiting some Inter-Protocol Cross-site scripting flaw, then you can figure out yourself the potential regarding this threat.

It´s not the client-sides fault. You can have a good strategy how to protect yourself. The blame lies at the server-side where certain administrators/developers doesn´t secure their servers/web because of lack of knowledge, laziness etc.

    /C.
